Classes at Georgia Tech are back in session and that means our residents have been making their way back to Atlanta, GA for another great semester here at The Standard at Atlanta. While we hope everyone had an amazing holiday break, we were excited to help kick off GT Spring 2022 the right way with a variety of residence life events!
On Monday, January 10th, we started off our Welcome Back Week with our Donut Grab n’ Go event, where we provided donuts from Dunkin Donuts. We set up the donut bar in addition to our usual coffee bar in the lobby. Our residents were able to grab a quick bite to eat on their way to their first classes of the new semester. As they grabbed their treat, they were told about all the upcoming events we would be having throughout the week.
Day two of Welcome Back Week, we held our Welcome Back Chat program. At the event, our residents were given the opportunity to chat with us at the front desk and grab a goodie bag filled with candies.
On our third day of Welcome Back Week, we held our New Year, New Goals event in our main lobby. As COVID cases began to increase at our university, most of our events were changed to a grab and go style. This allowed residents to still enjoy Welcome Back Week while being safe. We made a short flyer on the benefits of using a planner and how it could make any school year successful. Many students enjoyed the yearly planners with highlighters to match! This event was a huge hit garnering interest to make this event one that we will be sure to do again!
For day four, we held our biggest event, Grocery Bingo! Fresh pizza and soda were provided while 2 games of BINGO were played in our 10th-floor Clubhouse. This event was super fun, as residents enjoyed the fierce competition and yummy snacks. We decided to keep this as an in-person event to add some sense of normalcy to the week.
On our very last and most successful event of Welcome Back Week was our DIY Acai Bowl Bar. We supplied the Acai and a variety of toppings which allowed residents to put their spin on the refreshing treat. This was a fun event for both staff and residents because it allowed us to talk about upcoming weekend plans and how that first week back was on their mental health.
It was an awesome week getting our residents geared up for a successful semester at Georgia Tech! We love having the opportunity to provide a best-in-class, GT off-campus housing experience to our residents, and hosting a variety of engaging events is just one of the many ways we strive to accomplish that.
